I love a good amnesia story, but this author adds to it with a slow build of tension between the characters. The heat between Tolik and Clare is palpable and I can't wait for more from this author.
A head's up the beginning is a little slow and it took a while to grab hold of me, but when it did... whew!
Clare suffers amnesia and I really appreciate that she doesn't act the victim. Tolik who finds her is very mysterious, so of course I was drawn into who is he and what's his story. I really like the bathroom and kitchen scene, very hot. Will read the other books to see where this goes.
A lot of mystery in this story, kind of reminded me of the movie Memento only more erotic. I will definitely be looking forward to the future parts of this series!
Even for a short book it was a pretty good read. I am looking forward to seeing what else happens with tolik and Clare and what else comes to be revealed in clares past. The hint of sexual tension between the two characters makes you want more.
The intro was enough of a warm up to get me going. Lots of questions and cliffhangers. I am curious as to the locked cellar so I've already bought the second book.
Though a shortish tale, L'Amoreaux does a good job of building up tension through slow revelations with regard to the heroine's (Clare's) amnesia. I like a good amnesia tale, and of course there is static between her and Tolik from the get go.
Recommended for those who like their stories hot with a bit of intrigue on the side!
This book gripped me from the start. Penelope did an amazing job setting the tone and pulling me into Clare's story. I felt Clare's desperation, waking up with no memory of her past--but luckily, a delicious alpha, Tolik was there to protect her. Their attraction is intense and their chemistry had me clamoring for more. I can't wait to read the rest of this series...totally in love with Clare and Tolik!
